The Critical Care department work closely with the 7 Medicine inpatient units within Hartford Hospital to promote a collaborative continuum of care for our patients as they transition through their care within the hospital.
Our Medicine inpatient units care for a diverse patient population, allowing for RNs to gain a broad range of experience within the nursing field.
RN Bridge ProgramA Medicine-to-Critical Care Bridge Program has been established to provide nurses with potential future interest in working in an Intensive Care Unit an opportunity to first build foundational nursing skills and knowledge within one of our Medicine units.
Upon completion of orientation on a Medicine unit, and successfully demonstrating competence in practice for the first 12 months, the RN will be considered for a transition to an ICU setting with support of leadership from both the Medicine and Critical Care teams.
Program components:
Creation of individualized development plan with managers of both Medicine unit and Critical Care to track goals and progress Collaborative coaching sessions with each RN and managers of both units at regular intervals through the program Experienced RNs from both the Medicine unit and ICU assigned as mentors After completing each step of the bridge program, RNs will be evaluated for readiness to transition fully to Critical Care Job Summary Our Nurses work in collaborative environments with strong interdisciplinary teams, focused on a patient-centered care model in a richly diverse work space.
Under the direction and general supervision of the Nurse Manager, the registered nurse utilizes evidence-based practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, policies and procedures of the hospital and as directed by the medical staff.
The registered nurse who through knowledge and ability uses the nursing process to develop a plan of care which includes standards of practice to meet the physical, emotional spiritual, cultural and educational needs of the patient and family.
Qualifications Current Connecticut RN License required prior to start date Graduate of an accredited nursing school ASN required (Must Obtain BSN within 6 years of starting in the RN role) BSN Preferred BLS certification by the American Heart Association HARTFORD HOSPITAL HIGHLIGHTS:
